The Sawnee Association of the Arts recently dedicated its second–floor gallery to the South Forsyth Vertical Team—a showcase that brings together elementary, middle, and high school talent in a vibrant, communal celebration.
From whimsical watercolors and striking charcoal sketches to imaginative mixed media pieces, the exhibit reveals the diverse creative journeys of youth across grade levels. A reception on March 4 invited families and neighbors to applaud emerging artists, offering a moment when guidance counselors, teachers, and siblings proudly gathered around each piece, seeing not just color and form—but potential in progress .
Another installation earlier in the season featured an all‑county high‑school show, highlighting 2‑D and 3‑D art from Forsyth County students. From graphite drawings to clay sculptures, the gallery brimmed with ambition: students submitted one piece each, framed or professionally prep‑ready, and the event included ribbon‑judged awards and a reception in December and January.
For each student, this is more than just an exhibit—it’s validation. The Center’s mission is clear: encourage artistry, from budding beginners to advanced young creators, all within a warm, community‑driven space . Under the supportive roof of the Cumming Arts Center, they’re not just learning line and color—they’re learning to see their vision reflected in polished frames, to stand with their names beside their work.
These student art exhibits are an annual tradition—welcomed by a nonprofit arts association run by volunteers and fueled by local grants. But most importantly, they’re a springboard: a place where young imaginations leap into full display, and where the community witnesses the next generation forging its creative identity—one brushstroke at a time
