Society’s A Light Through Art: The Cumming Arts Center’s Role in the American Cancer Lantern Walk

For years, the Sawnee Association of the Arts/Cumming Arts Center has been a cornerstone of the local arts scene, nurturing creativity and connection through exhibitions, workshops, and outreach. But during the Lantern Walk, their mission took on a deeper dimension. Its artists helped create and contributed handcrafted lanterns—each a luminous tribute to those touched by cancer.

“Art has the power to comfort, to connect, and to inspire hope,” said a Cumming Arts Center member. “We’re honored to be part of a community that uses that power to support the American Cancer Society and the fight against cancer.”

Through their partnership with the Lantern Walk, the Cumming Arts Center reminds the community that healing comes in many forms. Sometimes, it walks softly. Sometimes, it shines quietly. And sometimes, it glows- lighting the way forward.
