The Cumming Arts Center invites local artists 18 years and older to enter its Summer in the City Arts Show and Sale. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to showcase your artwork alongside members of the SAA at the Cumming Arts Center located at 111 Pilgrim Mill Road, in the historic Brannon Heard House in downtown Cumming. All artwork will need to be juried into the show so follow the guidelines for acceptance closely. Deadline for submission of photos of all artwork is midnight Saturday June 10, 2023
SAA members will also be participating in this art show which will award cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in the following categories: 2D, Photography and 3D.
Independent nonmember judges are utilized for judged art shows
Application Fees are: $75 per category for non-members and this fee is nonrefundable regardless of whether your artwork is juried into the show . SAA members entry fee is $25 per category. Each artist is permitted to enter up to 2 pieces of artwork per category, but each piece must be identified as artist’s first choice and second choice if only one piece can be entered. The Cumming Arts Center can accommodate up to 200 pieces of artwork, but in order to accommodate the number of artists who apply, CAC reserves the right to only accept one piece so that all artists who are accepted can participate in the show. In 2022 all artists who submitted works for jurying were accepted into this community and members art show.
This is a Cash Awards art show for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Best In Show recipients.

Definition of Artwork
Artwork can include 2D and 3D art. This means art can include drawings, paintings, photography, woodworking, sculptures, jewelry, egg art, fabric art, mixed media and more. The three categories of artwork are: 2D, 3D and Photography.
Shipping or delivery of any artwork sold is the sole responsibility of the participating artist. Any theme is acceptable. No nudes or partial nudes can be accepted.
RULES for Show:

The entry fee is $25 per category for Members of the SAA and $75 for Non-Members. Limit of 2 entries per artist per category. Our facility is limited to 200 pieces of artwork for any given show.

All applications must be received by Midnight Saturday, June 10, 2023

Please note artists must submit a photo of the works they plan to enter. These photos serve to identify your artwork. Not all photos will be accepted! Photos need to be very clear, sharp and in focus or they will not be accepted. Photos of artwork should not include frames.

Please also note: Entry fees are Non-Refundable, even if your artwork is not chosen, so please follow the guidelines specifically.

Accepted Artwork must be delivered in person to the Cumming Arts Center with a label including title of work, size, medium, artist’s name and price attached to the hanging wire of all 2D and attached to the bottom of the artwork if the piece is 3D. If the artwork is not for Sale (NFS), please indicate this on your attached artwork description. Please understand that for 2023 the show is an in-person show; it is not a Virtual Show.

IF your artwork is for sale and is sold at the show, the Cumming Arts Center receives 30% of the sale price and the artist receives 70% of the sale price, so please price your work accordingly.

For privacy reasons only the artist’s name and the above information will be posted on the label identifying the artwork once the show opens, and the name of the artist and title of the work will appear on the web site if the artwork places 1st, 2nd 3rd place or Honorable Mention during the judging or if the artist is the recipient of the People’s Choice Award.

A jury committee will jury in the artist’s works.

Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance into the show via email by Monday June 12, 2023.
If you have not received an email about acceptance by June 12th at midnight, please telephone 678 634 9240 and leave a message with your name and any questions you may have. Your call will be returned
ALL ACCEPTED ARTWORK BY MEMBERS AND NON MEMBERS MUST BE DROPPED OFF AT THE CUMMING ARTS CENTER

Monday June 19th noon – 5 pm
Judging will take place after the show is hung, and SUMMER IN THE CITY opens to the public on Friday afternoon June 23, 2023.
AT CHECK IN, ARTISTS MUST SIGN THE CUMMING ARTS CENTER WAIVER AND WILL RECEIVE INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARTISTS’ RECEPTION AND ART PICK UP DATES.
JUDGING
Judging will take place between June 22nd and June 23rd. Judges will decide which day they plan to judge.
Invite your friends and family to the Cumming Arts Center and have them cast their votes for People’s Choice. If your work is chosen as the People’s Choice you will receive a signed certificate from the Cumming Arts Center and your work will also be featured on the web site sawneeart.org along with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners and the Honorable Mentions in the following categories:
2 D artwork (drawings, paintings etc.)Photography (all types of photography)
3 D artwork (woodworking, pottery, jewelry, needlework, etc.)

IV ARTISTS’ RECEPTION AND AWARDS CEREMONY
Artists will receive an invitation with details about cash awards reception for artists and friends at the time of Check In

If the parking lot at the arts center is full there is free public parking across the street in the parking deck. If you need help getting your artwork inside, please let us know and after your artwork has been unloaded then you can move your car to the parking deck if you need to.
