 ion means not much water…It is a controlled\napproach and is an alternat
 ive to traditional watercolor. It can be used as a\nsupplement or stand-al
 one medium. Drybrush is also paper dependent. By\nusing hard\, compact col
 d press paper\, the artist can lift paint to create\nhighlights\, light ch
 annels\, and other peak areas.\nIt is “painting by subtraction” Additi
 onal subtracting\, and/or adding\npaint by layer\, and any reworking can o
 nly be performed after previous\nlayer is completely dry. This is to maint
 ain the integrity of the paper in use.\nMasking fluids are also used perio
 dically to maintain negative areas.\nBasic drawing fundamentals are also c
 overed on this class.\nIn this course\, students will be improving upon th
 eir watercolor technique\nby introducing a new style of dry brush painting
 . This technique will\nimprove control over the watercolor paint\, allowin
 g for a more\nphotorealistic finished product.\nAlan R. Young has chosen t
 o focus on painting animals\, as the sharpening of details in depictions o
 f\nanimals can be easily demonstrated using this method.\nStudents must su
 pply their own\nStrathmore cold press 140 lb. Tablet\, as it will be neces
 sary to achieve the\nphotorealistic effect.\nAll reference photos\, such a
