SUMMARY:Tom Slavicek Painting on Leather
DESCRIPTION:\n\nTom Slavicek has been leather crafting since he was a Boy S
 cout\, when he earned his Leatherwork Merit Badge on his way to becoming a
 n Eagle Scout. After a 37-year career serving young people\, Tom retired 
 in 2011 and he and his wife\, Karen\, moved to Dahlonega\, GA. His enjoyme
 nt of working with leather is coming to fruition through his crafting of v
 arious styles of pouches and bags\, with the added feature of inscribed im
 ages on the front of the pouches. Tom uses a wood-burning tool to inscribe
  the images free hand directly onto the leather. The color on the bags is 
 created by adding India Inks and/or acrylic leather paints. Each pouch is 
 a unique work of art\, and no two are alike. Tom teaches at numerous venue
 s across north Georgia\, including at several craft schools: John C. Campb
 ell\, Arrowmont\, William Holland\, and others.\n\nPAINTING ON LEATHER  
 Complete one or two paintings in one class\nSaturday July 31st  11AM - 4 
 PM \nCost:  $85\nMinimum number in class: 3\nMaximum number in class: 8 
 to 12\nAges: 13 and up\nBRING YOUR LUNCH\nYou will have time to make one\,
  maybe two pieces\, and have fun learning about drawing a design on leathe
 r and then painting it using your choice of India inks\, gel pens\, or Acr
 ylic leather paints. Choose the size of your leather canvasses from 8” x
  10” up to 16” x 20”. Numerous art templates will be available for y
 ou to choose from: animals\, birds\, flowers\, sea creatures\, “you name
  it”. Or you can design your own artwork. All leathers\, paints\, materi
 als\, templates\, etc. are provided. You can then take a photo of your mas
 terpiece and make note cards\, stationery\, art prints\, etc. No artistic 
 ability is needed\, just your enthusiasm and willingness to create some be
