Class Description

Instructor Bio:  Erin Harvey
Fee:  $260.00

Summer break is here and it is time for the fun to begin!  Summer kid art workshops are designed for 8+, who are interested in taking their art skills to a whole new level. These workshops are more than a summer camp; they are summer art intensives, intended for the dedicated art student wishing to learn more about the art they love, and to expand their art skills to make art easier and more fun.

In the drawing portion of the workshops, students will learn about the various methods for drawing accurately, and the benefits of each method.  Students will also learn how to shade for realism, and to tie objects to the whole composition to feel three-dimensional.  The focus is on skill building techniques and less on the finished product.

In the painting portion of the workshops, students will be introduced to both watercolor and acrylic and learn the proper techniques for using each. Students with previous experience will receive additional information to tailor lessons to students of all skill levels. Students will be offered various subject matters, from animals to common landscapes and scenery that are popular to most students.

Students will be introduced to two different 3D techniques: carving (the subtractive method) and modeling/sculpting (the additive method).  Working in soft mediums, such as soap and air-dry clay, students get to create fun 3D characters or objects without using blades or sharp tools. Using commonly found mediums, students get to learn how the different mediums work and feel in the hand, and the proper techniques for working safely.

All supplies used during workshops are readily accessible to students and are appropriate for in-home use. Many students fall in love and want to keep working at home!

Refund Policy and Seat Availability

Five day workshops have a maximum of 10 seats available. All workshops have a minimum of 3 students in order to proceed. If any workshop fails to meet the minimum registration requirement, a different workshop may be selected, or a full refund will be issued up to 5 days in advance of the registered workshop. This allows time for the seat to be given to the wait-list (if applicable). Any cancellations after this time will result in a 80% refund. Please contact the Instructor directly with any questions to modify a reservation.  Erin Harvey: (770) 313-0377.
